2021-22 SCHOOL BUDGET VOTE

On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, Byron-Bergen Central School District residents will be able to vote on the 2021-22 Byron-Bergen Central School District proposed budget, purchase of school vehicles (two school buses and one minivan) and elect two individuals (for a three-year) term) to the Board of Education.

Creating a fiscally responsible school budget to allocate resources where they are needed most is a priority for our Board of Education.  Overall, this budget reflects a year-to-year increase in spending with a zero percent (0.00%) change in tax levy. The major increases in spending are special education, healthcare and contractual obligations.

To vote on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, for this year only, New York State has passed legislation to allow District residents to vote in one of two ways.  They are:

In-person voting – District residents will be able to vote in person on May 18, 2021 in the Jr/Sr High School Wrestling/Fitness room from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  For in-person voting, District residents will be required to wear masks and adhere to physically distancing rules.
                                                                        OR
Absentee ballot voting – District residents can request an absentee ballot application starting April 19, 2021 through May 18, 2021 by contacting the District Clerk, Rachel Stevens at (585) 494 – 1220 ex. 2529 or by emailing [email protected].  Any District resident concerned about COVID-19 can choose “fear of COVID-19” as a legal reason on their absentee ballot application.  One the absentee ballot application is completed, returned and verified, the official ballot will be mailed to the District resident.   All completed official absentee ballots can be returned via US mail or dropped off at the District Office between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm.  All official absentee ballots must be received in the District Office by 5:00 pm on May 18, 2021 to be included in the count.

District residents are invited to virtually attend the 2021-22 budget presentation on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, via a zoom link.  The zoom link will be included on the May 11, 2021 Board agenda posted on the school website.   More information regarding the 2021-22 school budget is included here on this page under the 2021-22 tab.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the polls on Tuesday, May 18, 2021!
