Official Public Budget Hearing & Meet the Candidates Event
May 9, 2023 - 6 p.m.
The Board of Education is scheduled to host a Public Budget Hearing for the proposed budget proposal for 2023-24.

Introduction of the candidates for the Board of Education and the Public Budget Hearing for the proposed budget will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023 in the High School Auditorium.

The development of the school budget is a thoughtful process that includes careful long-term planning. It is a multi-faceted process including budget preparation, presentation, review by the Board of Education and community members, and formal budget adoption. 

The Byron-Bergen Central School District will host its Public Budget Vote and Board Member Election on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

The Public Budget Vote and Board Member Election will take place at the Sr. High School Gymnasium from 12 noon to 9 p.m.

Absentee Ballots
The District has returned to standard legal process of requiring a completed absentee ballot application prior to mailing out an absentee ballot. Byron-Bergen's absentee ballot application is available upon request to the Board Clerk Rachel Stevens, [email protected].

Applications must be returned to the Board Clerk no later than Tuesday, May 9, 2023 for those unable to vote in person. This allows time for the mailing of the absentee ballot and accompanying official absentee ballot envelope to approved applicants.

Official ballots, inside the official absentee ballot envelope be returned to the Board Clerk by the day of the vote, Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 5 p.m.

Board of Education Seats
If you are interested in running for a seat on the School Board, please contact Board Clerk Rachel Stevens to request an official petition. Petitions are due no later than 5 p.m. on April 17, 2023. Email: [email protected] or call 585-494-1220 ex. 2329.

Information about the candidates running for the Board of Education will be posted prior to the May 9th public hearing. Two individuals will be elected to a 3-year term beginning July 1, 2023 and 1 individual will be elected to a term running from May 17, 2023 to June 30, 2024.

- At least 18 years of age
- Byron-Bergen Central School District resident for at least 30 days prior to vote
