I have thoroughly enjoyed being out and about across the district over the first month of school. My personal highlight has been seeing all of the excitement from our kids. As we begin the month of October I wanted to share a few updates with our families as we put September in the books.
I want to reinforce the District’s responsibility regarding COVID-19 cases. As I have stated before, there is very little information that I am allowed to share regarding specific cases, however I am required to report daily positive cases of COVID-19 for staff and students to the Department of Health. The link below (also on our website since we started reporting cases during the week of September 13th) shows documented positive cases reported by the District and confirmed by the Department of Health in the Elementary and Jr./Sr. High School. https://schoolcovidreportcard.health.ny.gov/#/home
As a District, we continue to follow guidance from our state and local health departments. I meet with our local Department of Health Director, Paul Pettit once a week. The health and safety of our staff and students is our top priority. We continue to encourage our students, families, and staff to follow the health and safety expectations when they are on campus and/or at school events and please do not come to school when experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. I ask everyone to remember that we rely on each other, as a community, to stay safe.
A reminder there is no school for students on Friday, October 8th due to a Superintendent’s Conference Day for faculty and staff. There is also no school on Monday, October 11th due to Columbus Day.
Our Capital Project Public Vote will be on Thursday, October 7th from 1-9 PM in the Jr./Sr. High School Cafeteria. This project covers areas across our whole district that are necessary for health and safety, maintaining and preserving our district assets, and enhancing programmatic opportunities for students and staff. There will be no additional tax increase to our taxpayers. Here is a link to the Capital Project Video highlighting the overall project. https://ensemble.monroe2boces.org/Watch/i9BAq82S Please come out and vote on Thursday.
As always if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback please feel free to email, call, or pop in to see me. Have a wonderful weekend.
I’ll be in touch.
