On the evening of Friday, June 24th, the Byron-Bergen Class of 2022 walked across the stage and into the next chapter of their lives. They entered the Soccer Stadium to the accompaniment of the High School Concert Band and the applause of friends, family, and faculty assembled to celebrate their achievements. The ceremony highlights included performances by the Singing Silhouettes, addresses from the valedictorian and salutatorian, and presentation of diplomas.

Jr./Sr. High School Principal Ashley John Grillo welcomed graduates and guests and expressed his appreciation for all those whose hard work made the evening possible. Grillo then shared some memories of the graduating seniors including everyone’s heroic efforts in the Seniors versus Staff Kickball Game.

Superintendent Patrick McGee echoed Grillo’s sentiments of welcome and appreciation before addressing the graduates directly. “Kudos to this class who really advocated for themselves, always giving honest feedback on how to make our school better.”

Salutatorian Brooke Jarkiewicz reinforced her classmates’ commitment to advocacy. “Our class has made some big changes for our school. We had tailgates, we had themed sports games and, we can’t forget, we made yogurt a state snack.”

Valedictorian Corden Zimmerman thanked faculty, staff, teachers, friends, and family for their role in the success of the graduates. “We could not have done any of this without you… Everyone here tonight has done something great and its because of your help.”

The speeches were followed by scholarship award presentations and the conferring of diplomas. Board of Education President Deb List then led the seniors in the traditional moving of the tassels declared them all to be Byron-Bergen graduates.
