On February 8, 2024, Braedyn Chambry broke the Byron-Bergen Boys Basketball scoring record when he surpassed the previous record of 1063 set by Brandon Burke in 2017.
“Braedyn is old school,” said Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach Roxanne Noeth. “100% of his buckets come from inside the paint. Nothing flashy, just hard work and persistence around the rim.”
“If someone is going to break Brandon’s record, I’m glad it is Braedyn,” said Joann Burke, mother of Brandon Burke.
Varsity Basketball has changed over the years with the institution of the shot clock, the three-point line, and the lengthened season. According to available data, Chambry now holds the record for the past 54 years. Further back than that, it is unlikely that a player would have outscored him due to the evolution of the game and season length.
"I would like to offer my congratulations to Braedyn," said Athletic Director Rich Hannan. "I couldn't be more proud of this kid. He is a great student athlete and is always focused and driven to be at his best!"
The current record stands at 1078 and counting as Chambry closes out his senior year with the varsity basketball team.
