COVID Positive Staff Member

Earlier today, the District was notified by the Genesee County Department of Health that one of our district staff members tested positive for COVID-19. All students and staff that were deemed to have been in "close contact" with this person have been identified and will be contacted directly by the Genesee County Department of Health. Please know that the District is following all Department of Health guidelines as directed.

Based on the information gathered, health recommendation from the Genesee County Department of Health, and assessing the limited potential exposure of others in our school community, it was determined that the District will remain OPEN to all students.

Per federal HIPPA privacy laws, the District is unable to legally disclose any further details or personal identifiable information and we ask that the community avoid speculation and respect this individual’s anonymity.

We ask that all of you monitor your child's health and appreciate your continued daily monitoring of temperatures and COVID-19 symptoms. As you may know, COVID-19 symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with COVID-19 may experience the following:

Temperature greater than or equal to 100°
    Feel feverish or have chills
Cough, headaches, congestion, or runny nose
    Sore throat
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    Loss of taste or smell
Fatigue/feeling of tiredness, vomiting, or diarrhea

If your child develops any of the above symptoms, please keep him or her home and contact your child's doctor for medical evaluation. If your child's doctor thinks your child has COVID-19, he/she should be tested for COVID-19 and stay home from school until negative results are received. Your physician can order COVID-19 testing.

Again, in consultation with the Genesee County Department of Health, we will continue to remain open for all the other students and staff. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we move through this public health concern together.
