Face coverings update

In accordance with the announcement made yesterday, June 8, by Governor Cuomo, while face coverings are still required inside, Byron-Bergen students and staff are no longer required to wear face covings outside on school grounds. Social distancing is still encouraged. As the weather heats up, wearing masks on the buses in the afternoon may be uncomfortable. Therefore, students riding school buses in these conditions may also remove their masks while seated. This provision is in place for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year only.

Once again, students and staff are still required to wear face coverings when inside the buildings. The majority of Byron-Bergen classrooms are air-conditioned. In those few spaces where substantial air-conditioning is not available, students and staff will be allowed to remove masks while seated at times to avoid heat-related discomfort.

Thank you to everyone for their patience and cooperation as we close out this school year successfully and safely.
