A message from Interim Superintendent Bischoping

Dear Byron-Bergen Parent:

We have not received word from the NYS Department of Health that enables us to use a three foot guideline for students to be socially distanced. Therefore, we are not able to move forward with our plan to return students five days a week on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. We hope that the Department of Health makes this decision within the next couple of weeks so that we can bring back our 6-12 students fully on April 19th, 2021.

We will continue to run our hybrid model through April 19th. There will be a chart sent out through ParentSquare reflecting the week of April 6th as it is a short week with no Remote Wednesday. The week of April 12th will be our regularly scheduled hybrid model as we have run throughout the year. Please reach out to Principal Pat McGee or Assistant Principal Betsy Brown if you have any questions.

In the event that we are able to have students socially distanced at 3 feet, we look forward to having them back in school all five days each week, however, if you would like to have your child continue in fully-remote learning you are welcome to do so. You will only need to contact the office if you are changing your child from fully-remote to in-school or from the current hybrid pattern to fully-remote learning.

Once we do return fully, students who attend BOCES Career and Tech will continue with full days on Monday and Tuesday at the Batavia Academy. On Wednesday through Friday, BOCES students will need to attend their normal schedule at Byron-Bergen as they have all year.  Students in good academic standing (passing all classes) may leave the building as they currently are doing on Thursday and Friday. Students not passing will be required to stay in school until they are in good academic standing. Teachers will be available during the open part of their day for additional support if needed.

Please feel free to reach out to your building principal with any questions.

I wish everyone a safe and relaxing Spring Break.

Sincerely,
Scott Bischoping
Interim Superintendent of Byron-Bergen Central Schools
