COVID-19 Update from Interim Superintendent Bischoping

On Monday the District was notified by the Genesee County Department of Health that one of our district staff members and one of our High School students who is learning remotely have tested positive for COVID-19. The Genesee County Department of Health conducted contact tracing and determined that there was no need for quarantine of other staff members or students. Please know that the District continues to follow all Department of Health guidelines as directed.

Per federal HIPPA privacy laws, the District is unable to legally disclose any further details or personal identifiable information and we ask that the community avoid speculation and respect these individuals’ anonymity.

We ask that, even though the rates of the virus continue to fall in the region, you continue daily monitoring of temperatures and COVID-19 symptoms. As you may know, COVID-19 symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with COVID-19 may experience the following:

•    Temperature greater than or equal to 100°

•    Feel feverish or have chills

•    Cough, headaches, congestion, or runny nose

•    Sore throat

•    Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

•    Loss of taste or smell

•    Fatigue/feeling of tiredness, vomiting, or diarrhea

If your child develops any of the above symptoms, please keep him or her home and contact your child's doctor for medical evaluation. If your child's doctor thinks your child has COVID-19, he/she should be tested for COVID-19 and stay home from school until negative results are received. Your physician can order COVID-19 testing.
