On Saturday, May 6, 2023, 11th grade Varsity Track member Victoria Rogoyski long jumped an astonishing 17’ 10.25”, breaking the Byron-Bergen school record, surpassing the New York State Standard, and surpassing the New York State Super Standard. This jump automatically qualified her for the New York State Championships in Middletown, and one of three National Championship Emerging Elite Events in the country.

The Byron-Bergen Long Jump record was previously set by Veronica Duell, Class of 2021. She currently is long jumping at St. John Fisher College and has the second longest NCAA DIII jump in the nation with 19' 7".

“I have always looked up to Veronica,” said Rogoyski. “My goal is to be like her. She is amazing!”

This is not the first record Rogoyski has claimed this season. It is her fourth including the 800m Sprint Medley Relay with teammates Deborah Catalino, Mackenzie Hagen, and Meghan Muscarella. Despite it being early in the season, many of the team members have achieved best times, personal goals, and school records. Rogoyski also has her eye on New York State Super Standard in the Pentathlon.
“I’m really proud of our athletes,” said Varsity Track and Field Head Coach Ken Rogoyski. “They’re still a young team and so it’s exciting to see many of them leave their mark in the Byron-Bergen record books. We have a lot of talent on this squad and the best performances are still yet to come. Our team goal is to be the Genesee Region Champions for the third year in a row and possibly repeat as Section V Champions. We have a long post season ahead of us, and the team is looking forward to the challenges."

“Victoria is an exceptional athlete,” said Athletic Director Rich Hannan. “This is a major accomplishment and I’m looking forward to seeing her and the team finish strong.”

In the post-season, Victoria Rogoyski will compete at either the Nike National Championships at the University of Oregon, the Adidas National Championships in Greensboro, NC, or the New Balance National Championships at UPenn.
