At Home COVID Testing Kits

Good Morning,

As many of you have seen in the news, New York State is distributing at-home COVID-19 testing kits to public schools to distribute for student use.  These tests are being provided for families who may wish to test their child as a mitigation strategy.  Byron-Bergen received an allotment of tests late Monday afternoon. This is 100% optional and voluntary.

Tests will be available for parents or guardians to pick up from 7:30 AM-6 PM tomorrow, Wednesday January 5th at the Jr./Sr. High School Main Office.  You will be limited to one test kit per child enrolled in Byron-Bergen Central Schools and it must be picked up by the child’s parent or guardian. If you are not available tomorrow to pick up your child’s test kit, please contact your child’s building office to make other arrangements. Again, these test kits are optional and voluntary and are not required to attend school.

Additionally, New York State is rolling out its Test to Stay initiative. We are expecting more guidelines later this week and will keep the community informed to have protocols in place if necessary.  We are working with the Genesee Orleans Department of Health on our plans if we feel this is in the best interest of all of our students and community.

Our goal since day one is to keep kids in school all day, every day, all year. Thank you to everyone in this community who is working hard under the circumstances to make this happen.

If anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to call me at 585-494-1220 or email me at [email protected] or reach out to your building Principal.
