5th & 6th Grade Winter Concert

On Tuesday, December 10, the 5th and 6th grade band and chorus kicked off the BB Winter Concert Series. After some welcoming banter with Principal Loftus, Principal Hazard, and some student musicians, the 5th & 6th Grade Band, conducted by Bob Lancia, formally began the evening’s program with Proclamation by Brian Balmages. They followed it with a trio of holiday favorites, O Christmas Tree, Up on the Housetop, and Carol of the Bells by Leontovich, arranged by Larry Clark. For their finale, the band kicked it up to 1.21 gigawatts and took the audience Back to the Future (by Alan Silvestri, arranged by Michael Sweeney) in a multimedia presentation. Great Scott!

The spotlights turned to Mrs. Tischer and the 5th & 6th Grade Chorus who preformed a trio of Hollywood hits starting with Holiday Road by Lindsey Buckingham, arranged by Roger Emerson, from National Lampoon’s Vacation. Next was Moment of Truth by Wayne and Karey Kirkpatrick, arranged by Andy Beck from Smallfoot followed by Believe from Polar Express by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, arranged by Mark Hayes. The chorus closed out the evening with a humorous rendition of Grandma’s Killer Fruitcake by Elmo Shroshire and Rita Abrams, arranged by Roger Emerson.

Congratulations to all the student musicians.
