Join us in welcoming new IT Operations Analyst Andrew Poh. In this position, he oversees the school network infrastructure including wireless, servers, and backups. He works closely with our IT vendors and assists the IT help desk.
“I like solving problems for people,” said Poh. “There is always a level of satisfaction that I feel when helping people with technology. If I don't have the answer I will do my best to get it for you. I also like getting to touch all the cool tech!”
Poh grew up in Farmington. He studied electronics at MCC and Information Technology at FLCC. He originally wanted to be an electronics engineer but started doing side work pulling network cable and installing Point of Sale Systems. “I really liked that work and changed my career path to IT.”
Before coming to Byron-Bergen, he worked as a Systems Administrator at Genesee Regional Bank, a Network Systems Administrator at Conway Beam Truck Sales, and made house calls with Wise Computer Solutions.
“I used to install Smart Boards for school districts in the area years ago and I always wanted to work at a school,” said Poh. “Working for a business helps the business make money. At a school, you help to make opportunities for others. I like that.”
Outside of work, Poh likes to spend time on projects around the house and play video games. He lives in Livonia with his wife, their biological son, and three foster children.
