Byron-Bergen Student Competes on American Ninja Warrior Junior

It wasn’t an ordinary summer vacation for eighth grader Autumn Mathisen. This summer she traveled to Los Angeles to compete on American Ninja Warrior Junior.

American Ninja Warrior Junior is a television show where kids race to complete obstacle courses. Based on the adult version of the show, the courses include climbing, swinging, and jumping elements requiring strength, coordination, and concentration to complete.

Autumn trains at a ninja gym. That is where she first heard that a junior version of American Ninja Warrior was accepting applications. With the help of her mother, she submitted an audition video and received a call from the producers.

She can’t say how she scored in the competition, but one of her favorite parts of the experience was meeting some of the famous professional ninjas. American Ninja Warrior Junior will begin airing Saturday, October 13 at 7 p.m. on Universal Kids.
