Jr. High PageTurners triumph

The Jr. High PageTurners team edged out the competition at the fall Pageturners competition held at Avon Middle School on December 7. Led by team captain Matt Tanner, the Bees finished with 25 points and the lead.

The PageTurner competition tests teams on reading comprehension and retention. Each school is provided with a reading list of around ten works of fiction, non-fiction, and short stories from which the questions will be derived. The school able to answer the most questions correctly, wins. The fall booklist included:
Refugee by Alan Gratz,
The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt,
One Came Home by Amy Timberlake,
Memory Boy by Will Weaver,
Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan,
Tangerine by Edward Bloor,
Swing it, Sunny! by Jennifer L. Holm,
Lost in the Amazon: A Battle for Survival in the Heart of the Rainforest by Tod Olson, and
“Teacher Tamer” from What Do Fish Have to Do with Anything? And Other Stories by Avi.

Congratualtions to all the team members and good luck preparing for the spring competition.
