Drive for the Displaced

The 7th and 8th grade English classes at Byron-Bergen Jr. Sr. High School are currently studying the common themes that many refugees share, like being forced to flee their home, fearing for their safety, and getting settled in an unfamiliar place. We are using a balance of fiction and nonfiction texts to help us gain perspective on the unique paths that bring refugees together. We’re learning that many of their lives are made easier when local communities lend a helping hand. So, we decided that we wanted to join in!

We are holding a donation drive to support a local non-profit called Refugees Helping Refugees. We will be collecting items from now until November 16th to donate to their organization.  Please consider contributing and joining us in making a positive impact on the daily lives of local refugees.

All donations can be brought to Mrs. Walther (Room 91), Mrs. Golino-Smith (Room 92), or to the main office in the Jr. Sr. High where Miss Kessler will have a donation box. We ask that any donations be sent over in a plastic bag.
