Dear Parents and Families,
Many of you may have concerns about the ongoing spread of
the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on our schools. Please be assured
that we are closely monitoring the situation with the Genesee County Department
of Health. There are currently no diagnosed cases of COVID-19 in Genesee
County.
Please know that if any
employee or student receives a diagnosis, the District is prepared to
follow guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the New York
State Department of Health (NYSDOH), the Genesee County Department of Health
and the New York State Education Department. Local health departments will
contact schools if suspected or known cases emerge, and the District is
prepared to work with any affected families.
Our buildings and grounds staff
will continue to clean and disinfect throughout the schools to minimize the
spread of any and all illnesses, and we all need to do our part by following
the practices below:
- Wash your
hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and
water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Dry
your hands thoroughly.
- Avoid
touching your nose, mouth and eyes.
- Avoid close
contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home
when you are sick.
- Cover your
cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and
disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
If you or a family member manifests symptoms of a
respiratory disease, we encourage you to contact your healthcare
provider. New York State established a Coronavirus hotline, which can
provide additional information to answer questions or concerns about
travel and symptoms. The number is 1-888-364-3065.
