Seniors present to Elementary School for Black History Month

Siomara Caballero, Hannah Catalino, and Miriam Tardy presented to fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students on the history of the integration of sports in America. Their presentation provided background information to the movie Remember the Titans which the students would watch later that day.

The three seniors discussed segregation and how it extended to sports, citing a mid-1900s Byron-Bergen yearbook as an example. They then introduced black athletes who have broken barriers including Serena Williams, Jackie Robinson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Simone Biles, Jesse Owens, and Muhammad Ali.
