My name is Lynn Smith and respectfully ask for your consideration and vote to be the newest member of the Board of Education at Byron-Bergen Central School District.  My husband Doug and I have lived in Byron for 22 years.  Our son, Kyle, is a fifth grader at the Elementary School.   

Currently, I work full-time at Children’s Institute; a non-profit affiliated with the University of Rochester.  In my current role, I serve as the co-director of Primary Project, a program that focuses on children’s adjustment to school.  My responsibilities include: training, consultation and supporting school-based teams across New York and nationally.  In the Byron community, I have worked on Election Day as an Inspector of Elections at the Town Hall.  While Kyle enjoys many sports, hockey and baseball are his favorite.  When we are not sitting in a hockey rink or on a baseball field we may be enjoying one of our many other hobbies such as camping, snowmobiling, hiking, kayaking, biking and much more!   

My work at Children’s Institute, along with six years as a parent of a Byron-Bergen Bee, gives me a foundation to support the vision of the Board and guide the district forward. It is my desire to serve alongside well-respected individuals from our community to make decisions that impact students at all levels; socially, physically, emotionally and academically. My track record includes the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively to make sound decisions which can strengthen the educational experience and outcomes of the students that attend our schools.  I am up to the challenge and expectations of being an active and engaged member of the Board of Education.
