Byron-Bergen art students honored by Genesee County STOP-DWI Advisory Board

Six student artists were honored by the Genesee County STOP-DWI Advisory Board for their winning submissions to the annual STOP DWI poster contest. Byron-Bergen artisits placed first in each category including the Grand Prize winner, whose poster will be featured on a billboard. Winning students will attend a luncheon on November 21.

"We look forward to this contest every year," said Jr./Sr. High School Art teacher Sandy Auer. "I work with the students on understanding the elements of a good design. I emphasis clear, readable fonts, bold colors, proper spelling, and neat original graphics. We talk about how the viewer only has a moment while driving to glimpse the art so it should be simple an easy to read. The kids never disappoint with their awesome ideas!"

Winning artists:
Ciara Trigilio, 7th grade, won first place in the 6th - 8th grade category.
Jackson Lundfelt, 7th grade, won second place in the 6th - 8th grade category.
Brooke Jarkiewicz and Grace Shapard, both in 10th grade, won first place in the 9th - 12th grade category for their joint submission.
Jade Wolff, 7th grade, won the computer-generated art category.
Zoey Shepard, 9th grade, was the Grand Prize winner. Her poster will be featured on a STOP-DWI bill board.

Congratulations!
